Swanpool Nature Reserve is the jewel in the crown of Swanpool. Consisting of a large expanse of fresh and salt water it is home to vast array of wildlife and easily accessible for everyone. The Nature Reserve was once part of the sea until a shingle bar was formed during the last ice age is a lovely place to view the vast amount wildlife, feed the ducks and swans or take a relaxed stroll or sit and take in the view on the benches.
Fun fact: Swanpool is home to the only Trembling Sea Mat in Britain which has led to the reserve being given status as a Site of Special Scientific Interest.
